I have been thinking outside the square - so to speak - when I received the latest collection of Vintage Journal Cards.

I was taken with the exquisite image of a beautiful lady with such deep and soulful eyes from Meg's new Vintage Journal Card collection.

Loosely cut around the design edge, then inked and mounted on to antique gold paper for the frame backing, this image was the start of something special.

A string of faux pearls line the frame, with a cluster flourish of flowers, lace and ribbon, the final touching elements, making for a truly special and unique gift.

With all of the beautiful embellishments, and using the Vintage Journal Cards found in Meg's Garden shop, you too can find inspiration and create something "out of the square".

Tag, You're It

For something different, this time I used Meg's new Art Tags as a feature layer, one of many layers in this masculine birthday card.

The new Art Tags are versatile, and can be used both as something practical or decorative. In this instance, I have gone for decorative.

For my other layers in this card, inspiration for colouring and style was gained from past collections, including Sherlock, and also pages from an old dictionary.
All coordinating together perfectly.

The Sherlock collection also provided me with the embellishments from its Cut & Create sheets - the ideal balance of masculine yet decorative was easily achieved.

For this card, I also wanted to add an insert, again making a feature of the dictionary paper and a corner cluster of Cut & Create imagery.

One of my favourite creative techniques is distressing, and making use of paper in other ways. For the front of this card, I rolled dictionary paper to create an eye catching detail, texture and body as well as serve as the base for my sentiment.

Embellishing again in tonal colours, finding the perfect finishing touches amongst Meg's variety of chipboard and adornments

Creating something masculine, stepping out of your comfort zone need not be hard, thanks to Meg's Garden collections! Be sure to check out the new Art Tags, both in masculine and feminine designs, for your next creative project.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having a play around with the new “ART TAG” download. As a junk journaler, I love tags. They are so versatile, they can be decorated just be pretty or they can be very practical and be used for journaling. For this blogger post, I've done a bit of both...a TAG BOOK...

I’ve used two of the tags to make the tag book

I’ve attached the two tags to a piece of cardstock leaving a gap in between the tags so I could fold the cardstock along the gap, this the made the cover of tag book. I was then able to sew in some pages into the fold. Then I added an eyelet, a string closure and decorated. The tag book could easily slip into a pocket for extra journaling space or be a stand-alone mini book for journaling and photos.

Till next time HAPPY CRAFTING

Vintage Shadow Box

Hello Everyone,

How Meg's Vintage Journal Card collections conjure up different ways to use the beautiful images!

From something bland to something beautiful!

I have used a plain MDF wood shadow box, painted antique cream and edged in ribbon and pearls.

Filling each shaped opening, I have an abundance of paper flowers, more pearls, a crochet square, and even a piece of jewellery. I am never one to shy away from all things Over The Top!

By far, the star of the shadow box is, without a doubt, the delicate lady with her mirror image, from Meg's collection.

Edged in fine die cut swirls with bling accents, paired with one of Meg's framed wording sentiments to complete, the overall finish makes for an unusual but unique decorator piece.

Whimsical 70

Using the new papers and imagery from Meg's latest collection of Vintage Journal Cards is a pleasure, especially when you have a special someone with a milestone birthday in mind.

I have used a beautiful blue wisteria paper from a previous collection as my background, drawing colours from the VJC as inspiration for the style of this card.

die cut out of the demure lady sits atop in the corner, grabbing the recipients attention, teamed with shades of purple as my coordinating colours. And, as always, my go to decoration - bling!
Included in the many layers are delicate paper doilies, which suit any colour and theme. They are easy to recolour, or look stunning left as is.

As added embellishment to the shimmering 70 sentiment, sits a bunch of small paper flowers from Meg's Garden shop. For texture and something really special, I have feathers coming out from the flowers.

With wispy lavender ribbon as the closure to the card, it becomes another embellishment when done up in a beautiful bow, and the final element to my whimsical card for someone special.

If you enjoy working with particular colours, or simply your own favourite colour, you will find creating in tonal shades a wonderful experience with Meg's collections.

Bonita Rosa Card

Hello everyone,

I would like to share with you a card I have created using an image from the Vintage Journal Cards.  This is a new collection of papers available from Meg's Garden Paper Inspiration online store.

This is an elegant but simple card to create using the colours from this pretty image of red, black and white. I also added a touch of gold for a hint of glamour. A die cut shape, lace, a large white flower, pearl trim and gold fern leaves adorn this card.
Until next time.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
I hope you have a wonderful day & happy creating.

A butterfly dance amongst the French Roses

I loved the wording on this lovely paper from the French Roses collection
I fussy cut the butterfly from the cut and create papers
and added some inks and glitter

I also coloured the metal butterfly with gilding wax to match

Thanks for taking a stroll through Megs Garden
Cheers Trish

When you're searching for a pen and paper..

We've all been there, on a call or needing to write down a thought before it disappears, we can never find a pen and paper when we really need it..

With this (daily!) conundrum in mind, I was inspired to create post it note Tags with Meg's new series of Art Tags, so I can always have pen and paper at the ready!

The perfect size to be handheld, lightweight, and can easily hold a magnet on the back for more placement options, the new Art Tags have many uses and functions - as well as looking pretty!

With both masculine and feminine Tag designs available, I created note pads to suit both, as well as making them ideal for any occasion or gift.

Decorating the Tags was a joy, using past and present Cut & Create collections.
One of my favourite things about using Meg's Garden designs, is that no matter whether old or new, the collections will all tone - so finding that perfect embellishment to finish off any project is easy and stress free.

Using the Tag shape in full, the design gave me the perfect area to pop through an eyelet to attach the pen.
I used coordinating ribbon to anchor the pen to the Tag, as well as loop through the pen lid - making sure you're never without a trusty pen when you need!

I hope I have inspired you to check out the new Art Tags, and try something creatively new today!

Tag Marks the Spot

Hi Everyone,

As an avid reader, I am forever starting new books and needing something to mark my spot to come back to when reality calls. As soon as I received my Art Tag's, the latest instalment to Meg's Garden,  I was instantly inspired and knew exactly what I was going to make -bookmarks!

From one page of Art Tags, accompanied with Cut & Create sheets, I created 4 bookmarks.
With a variety of colours and patterns in both masculine and feminine designs, the possibilities are endless.

As with all Meg's Garden collections, each blends in, is suitable and coordinates with collections past and present, so finding tonal and fitting embellishments was easy, and most importantly - fun!

I used few embellishments, including background stamps and feathers, wanting to keep the main focus to three or four selected Cut & Create images. Each cut out is inked around the edges, some with distressing, so they all have their chance to stand out.

As the finished Tags need to be relatively flat for use as a bookmark, I was able to go all out decorating the tops with ribbons galore! Doing this was also a good stash buster, as I was able to use up many left over pieces of ribbon and lace.

I can't wait to see these bookmarks spilling out atop of the latest best seller!
